The Florida Wildflower Symposium earned a Green-Certified Sustainability Event Rating from the University of Florida Office of Sustainability, honoring our efforts to minimize waste and encourage recycling and composting throughout the event.

The Florida Wildflower Foundation is the first organization to host an event at the Straughn Center to earn this designation. To help reach our goal of a 100% green-certified event, lunch (provided by Sweetwater Catering) was served with compostable plates and cups. Attendees were asked to separate waste into recyclables, compostables and regular trash. Recycling throughout the event was also encouraged to considerably reduce the amount of landfill waste.

The Straughn Center is a gold-certified LEED facility.
