Cultivating Knowledge and Beauty: Seedlings for Schools Applications Open March 1
The Florida Wildflower Foundation is thrilled to announce that our Seedlings for Schools program will begin accepting applications on March 1, 2024. This program empowers schools across Florida to cultivate vibrant wildflower gardens, fostering educational experiences and connections to nature that extend far beyond the classroom.
Sowing the Seeds of Education
The Seedlings for Schools program offers a unique chance for schools to enhance their curriculum through hands-on outdoor learning experiences. These gardens serve as dynamic classrooms, providing students with immersive opportunities to explore various aspects of life sciences, environmental stewardship, horticulture and more.
Nurturing Curiosity and Connection
Wildflower gardens not only beautify school grounds but also inspire wonder and curiosity among students. From observing pollinators in action to understanding the delicate balance of ecosystems, these gardens foster a deep connection to the natural world. Students learn valuable lessons about plant life cycles, soil health and the importance of conservation efforts, instilling a sense of responsibility for the world around them.
Students at Sand Lake Elementary are sharing their garden with the whole school by producing videos on what’s blooming! Check it out:
Making a Difference Together
The success of the Seedlings for Schools program relies on the generosity of supporters like you. Just $50 provides a wildflower garden for a school near you; however, no gift is too small. Your gift will directly impact the lives of students, providing them with enriching educational experiences that will last a lifetime.
