Ever wonder where in Florida to find a field of wildflowers in which you can have your picture taken? Come out for our Wildflower Farm Field Day on Saturday, April 23 and you'll see. Wildflowers of Florida Inc. offers 30 acres of wildflowers in full bloom and they are waiting for you! Farm owner Terry Zinn will give a talk at 9 a.m. on wildflower farming and easy wildflowers to cultivate. Then he will lead the group on a tour of the farm. At 11 a.m., Dr. Glenn Hall, associate professor of native bees at the University of Florida, will give a short presentation followed by a walk and talk on native bees. Bring your lunch and your camera.
Make a weekend of it and join us Sunday, April 24 for a photography workshop at the farm with nature photographer and Florida Master Naturalist Vince Lamb. Vince will lead a guided photography session at the wildflower farm. We hope to catch the Coreopsis close to a peak bloom and covering the landscape. Photographers with any form of cameras are welcome to attend. If you have a macro lens, please bring it. We will carpool around the farm, stopping in multiple locations to take photos. Vince will discuss lighting and composition to take photos with high impact. The session is expected to take approximately 90 minutes.
Each event is free to FWF members, $15 for non-members. Not a FWF member? Become one at www.flawildflowers.org/membership.php.
